Sangye temple was built in the period of Tubo Dynasty in the 8th century AD. it is the first monastery in Tibet where shaved monks become monks. The buildings in the temple are arranged according to the Buddhist cosmology. The central Buddha Hall has three styles of Tibetan, Han and India. Therefore, Samye temple is also called three kinds of temple.
