Who knows what I went through just to capture a starry sky once? I don't say I was lucky, I can only say I worked hard enough. The story behind this is truly full of twists and turns, filled with unknowns and challenges.
In order to witness the long-awaited Perseid meteor shower with my own eyes, I made the decision to skip work that afternoon. Without hesitation, I got into the car and drove nearly 130 kilometers just to find a place with an excellent dark sky environment.
After a two-hour drive, I finally arrived at Dianding Mountain, a peak with an altitude of over 2000 meters. It is the highest peak near my city and also the best place in the dark sky environment near my city.
It's currently the rainy season, with heavy clouds and continuous rainfall every day. But the weather forecast shows that it will clear up from 2pm, and the sunny weather will continue until the next morning, which makes me look forward to it. As soon as I arrived at my destination, I couldn't wait to explore the parking spot and worked tirelessly until the sunset filled the entire mountaintop.
However, at this moment, the wind suddenly picked up on the mountaintop. The dark clouds in the distance were driven away by the strong wind and approached straight towards the mountaintop. In an instant, everything around was enveloped in thick fog, and the vision became blurred, unable to see anything. After this cloud drifts by, the mountaintop will briefly reappear, so the whole mountain appears and disappears like this, and I, like this mountain, constantly hover between hope and disappointment.
I helplessly hid in the car, as if ten thousand grass mud horses were galloping through my heart. What about the promised sunny day? I anxiously held my phone and kept flipping through the weather app, trying to get more accurate information. The signal at the mountaintop is really bad. The more I mess around, the more anxious I become, and the more angry I become.
Finally, the signal has been restored, and the forecast says it will clear up at midnight. I stand in the midst of clouds and mist, my heart full of confusion, unsure whether to leave or stay.
Amidst the confusion, the sky gradually darkened. Due to the cover of clouds and mist, it was darker than usual. In the pitch black surroundings, I am alone. As soon as my heart crossed, I decided to sleep in the car and take pictures if it cleared up. If it didn't clear up, I would consider myself unlucky!
So, I stared blankly at the darkness outside the car window, as time passed by minute by minute. I don't know how long had passed, but suddenly there were scattered starlight in the sky. I was pleasantly surprised and quickly got out of the car to find that the clouds were gradually thinning, and scattered starlight was flashing between the gaps, like brilliant gems.
I quickly set up the machine and aimed it at the position of the Milky Way to start filming
During the shooting process, I accidentally noticed that there was a slight increase in pink in the photo, and it was in the northwest direction. I quickly went online to check, and only then did I realize that the photography industry had exploded. It turned out to be Aurora, the Aurora has exploded!
I was so excited that I almost jumped up and quickly used my spare machine to shoot towards the north. When the pink light appeared on the camera screen, my excitement was indescribable in words. At that moment, all exhaustion, anxiety, and entanglements vanished into thin air, leaving only the joy and satisfaction in one's heart.
I stood there, gazing at the dreamlike pink aurora, and my inner desire could no longer be suppressed. I took firm steps and slowly walked into that mysterious and brilliant light.
The aurora danced above my head, as if it were a brilliant ribbon sprinkled by the universe. I feel its dreamlike radiance enveloping me, as if the whole world is left with only me and this magical sight.
In this ultimate beauty, I finally obtained another 'photo of life'. In the photo, I am surrounded by pink auroras, with meteors shooting from the top of my head. This photo not only captures this rare sight, but also records my determination and persistence in pursuing my dreams.
